How can I order a Lunaris prosthesis?

To order a Lunaris prosthesis, you first need to make an appointment with your prosthetist. They will work with you to assess your needs and ensure that the Lunaris prosthesis is suitable for your situation.

If you wish, you can also send us your contact information and that of your prosthetist so that we can contact them and assist them in the process.

We are here to help you access the best possible prosthesis and support you throughout the process.

What is the difference between a Lunaris prosthesis and a traditional prosthesis?

Most carbon feet combine stacked blades to provide stability and flexibility, but this compromises patients as it is impossible to achieve both aspects simultaneously.

The Lunaris eliminates this compromise by completely separating the structural and flexibility components, allowing each component to be optimised for its specific function, which explains its superior performance compared to other available prostheses.

The key difference of the Lunaris lies in its revolutionary ankle interface design. Unlike traditional carbon or fiberglass prostheses that lack comfort and range of motion, this Axiles Bionics prosthesis provides a highly dynamic and comfortable experience through an anatomical ankle joint incorporating an elastic tendon similar to that of the human body.

This feature allows unprecedented flexibility and a natural range of motion, combining comfort and dynamism for an active lifestyle. With its advanced technology, smart connectivity, and services, the Lunaris stands out as a truly unique prosthesis.

Who is the Lunaris designed for?

The Lunaris has been specifically designed for individuals with lower limb absence, whether due to amputation or congenital disability.

It is suitable for unilateral or bilateral transtibial or transfemoral amputations or deficiencies, as well as knee or hip disarticulations and osseointegration.

The user weight should be between 45 and 110 kg, and feet of different lengths are available in a range of 24 to 30 cm.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact your healthcare professional or Axiles Bionics.

How much does a Lunaris prosthesis cost?

The cost of a Lunaris prosthesis can vary based on various factors such as geographical region, customization options, and specific patient requirements. Therefore, we recommend that patients contact their prosthetist to obtain an accurate cost estimate for their Lunaris prosthesis.

Prosthetists can also contact Axiles Bionics for additional information if needed.

Is the Lunaris prosthesis covered by social security?

It is advisable to check with your country's social security organization to determine whether the Lunaris prosthesis is covered or not.

Reimbursement rules and amounts vary depending on countries and their healthcare policies.

In Belgium, for example, INAMI partially covers the costs of purchasing prosthetic feet every 3 years, but it is important to inquire about eligibility criteria and exact reimbursement amounts.

For more information, please contact your healthcare professional.

Does my insurance cover an Axiles Bionics prosthesis?

If you are covered by accident insurance or third-party liability insurance, it is possible that the entire cost of the Axiles Bionics prosthesis will be covered. To benefit from this coverage, you will need to prepare a file with your rehabilitation doctor and prosthetist to demonstrate that the Axiles Bionics prosthesis is the most suitable one for you.

So far, all users who have requested reimbursement for the Axiles Bionics prosthesis from their insurance have been able to benefit from it.

Is the Lunaris compatible with other prosthetic devices?

Yes, the Lunaris is compatible with most other prosthetic devices such as knee units for individuals with transfemoral amputations.

For additional information on compatibility, please contact us or consult your healthcare professional.

What are the possible levels of customization for the Lunaris?

It is possible to customize the ankle stiffness by selecting from different spring categories. The choice of category depends on the device size, user's body weight, desired stiffness based on usage impact. The cosmetic covers (foot cover) are also available in different colors to meet users' aesthetic preferences.

Can the Lunaris be used for sports activities?

While the Lunaris is capable of providing a comfortable and natural walking experience for daily activities, it is important to note that it is not designed for intensive use or high-impact sports. Using the prosthesis for activities like running or basketball can generate high forces that could potentially damage the prosthesis or pose a risk to the user. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the provided instructions for use.

Is the Lunaris water-resistant?

The Lunaris has an IP54 rating, which protects it against dust and splashes of fresh water. However, it is not designed to be immersed and should not be used during showering or swimming. It is crucial to avoid contact with saltwater or chlorinated water as it could lead to corrosion. In case of accidental exposure to water, it is recommended to immediately clean the prosthesis with a damp cloth. Additionally, it is important to thoroughly dry the ankle-foot prosthesis after any contact with water. Please note that an update is underway to make the prosthesis water-resistant.

Where can I find the instruction manual for the Lunaris and its IO Charger?

You can download the Lunaris instruction manual here, as well as the IO Charger instruction manual here.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us or reach out to your prosthetist for more information. We are always available to assist you.

Why do I need to recharge my prosthesis?

The Lunaris prosthesis is equipped with 14 sensors that collect real-time data on its usage.

To enable predictive maintenance and optimize engineering, this data needs to be transferred to our secure cloud server during the prosthesis recharge. Regular recharging is therefore essential to ensure the reliability of the prosthesis and maintain your warranty. However, it is important to emphasize that this artificial limb is not dependent on these electronic components.

Thus, whether the foot battery is full or empty, it will not affect its functionality. You can be reassured that your Lunaris will continue to provide you with solid support and consistent performance, regardless of the battery charge level.
